Warsaw-listed broker XTB started a staged rollout of overnight trading in selected US stocks on 7 October 2026 and added a Hungarian long-term investment account, according to Finance Magnates.
The details
- Overnight access covers weekdays. Clients are notified in the app and can switch the feature on or off. A summary of the updated terms by Czech site Finhacker, cited by Finance Magnates, lists 582 US stocks, including fractional shares.
- Outside regular hours, market orders are executed as limit orders at the best opposing price, and any part not filled is cancelled. XTB warns that liquidity, volatility and execution can differ from the regular session.
- The new Hungarian TBSZ account runs for five years. Gains are tax-free after that period and taxed at a reduced rate in years four and five; closing early triggers the standard 15% personal income tax plus a 13% social contribution.
- XTB's version opens from HUF 25,000, has no account fee and no commission on shares and ETFs up to EUR 100,000 of monthly volume, according to the report.
- Finance Magnates notes that others already offer overnight US access, including Trading 212, Interactive Brokers and eToro, and that CMC Markets widened its 24/5 US offer in July 2026.
- CFDs still produced about 96% of XTB's gross trading result, the report says, while shares, ETFs and investment plans made up 82.9% of first transactions by new EU clients in the first half of 2026.
What it means for clients
Extended hours give more flexibility to react to news, but the trade-off is usually thinner order books. That can mean wider spreads and bigger price gaps than during the main session, which is why the conversion of market orders into limit orders matters. Clients should read the product terms before switching it on.
Country-specific tax wrappers such as the TBSZ depend on local rules and personal circumstances. This article is general information and not advice.
