CMC Markets announces CMC Funded, a simulated prop trading programme

The programme uses a $100,000 simulated account and is described by the broker as separate from its regulated products.

CMC Markets has formally announced CMC Funded, a simulated proprietary-trading programme, according to Finance Magnates on 28 September 2026. Earlier reporting by the outlet said it would go live on 1 October.

The details

  • Participants receive a $100,000 simulated account with predefined performance targets and risk limits, the same for everyone.
  • One account covers a range of global markets, including prediction market events.
  • Trading is against simulated prices under set rules. CMC says the programme does not hold client money or execute customer trades, and that it is not a regulated CMC Markets product. It offers no live brokerage or funded trading accounts.
  • The programme uses CMC's technology and market expertise but runs separately from the listed group.
  • Those who pass the evaluation receive a Verified Trader badge. Rewards relate only to simulated activity rather than profits from live positions.
  • Passing also gives an interview opportunity through Verichain, an AI-based recruitment platform that is the first referral partner. The report says employment is not guaranteed and employers are not named.
  • Benjamin Charbonneau, who leads the programme, said the company is scouting for trading talent.
  • Not disclosed: any evaluation fee, the instrument list, the evaluation period, profit and drawdown thresholds, eligible jurisdictions and the commercial terms of the Verichain tie-up.

What it means for clients

Prop-style challenges vary widely across the industry, and the details usually decide whether they are good value. Because key terms are still missing here, particularly fees and rules, it is too early to judge how this one compares.

The distinction between simulated and live trading is important. Results in a demo environment do not include real slippage, emotion or liquidity constraints, and the company itself says the product sits outside its regulated services. Anyone considering a paid evaluation should read the full terms first. This article is general information and not advice.
